President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has praised the swift mobilisation of ECOWAS troops and air assets, led by Nigeria, to safeguard constitutional order in the Republic of Benin.
He spoke at the opening of the 68th ECOWAS Authority meeting in Abuja.
The ECOWAS Chairman said instability in Guinea-Bissau and the attempted coup in Benin underscore the need for vigilance. He urged leaders to uphold the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance with clarity, consistency and moral resolve.
