The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Alhaji Idris explained that government findings revealed that certain groups, especially from the United States, are spreading false and divisive stories about Nigeria’s security situation.
He said the claims were misleading and aimed at causing confusion about the true state of affairs in the country.
The Minister said there is no evidence that any religious group is being deliberately targeted in Nigeria.
He noted that although insecurity has affected many communities, the government has not found proof of systematic attacks based on religion.
